Born in Soisy-sous-Montmonrency (France). Nedjar left school at the age of 14 and became an apprentice tailor. He later took extensive journeys through Asia and Africa. In 1975, he made his first dolls out of scraps of cloth and odds and ends. In 1977, together with Theo Fernandez, he made the film, ”Le gant de l'autre.“ Two years later, Nedjar had been discovered by Jean Dubuffet. Human beings, masks, and animals of a pristine, primitivistic character are the main motifs in his paintings.
